Dreams of yesterday ~ Heirlooms of tomorrow

This quilt is about 42" square. Would you like to make
one like it? Here is what I did.
1. Take nine 8" embroidered blocks and arrange them
in three rows of three.
2. Cut sashing from fabric of choice in 3" strips. Cut
them the length of the blocks, or 8".
3. Cornerstones are 3" square. I chose gold fossil fern.
It takes less than a fat quarter.
4. Assemble the top to resemble the photo. Add a 3"
border.
I machine quilted along the seam lines using invisible
thread on top and matching thread on the underside.
For the binding, I tore 3" strips and stitched them
together to make one long strip long enough to go all
the way around the quilt. Then press it in half the long
way, to make a long strip 1.5" wide. Attach it in the
customary manner.
I used Warm & Natural batt in this one, so that it will be
comfortable winter and summer.
Feel free to email me if you need any encouragement.
